This engine has two inline cylinders the front cylinder is for power and the back cylinder is used to compress air.

History:
The Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company was founded in 1901 and started manufacturing this type of engine in 1912. The engines were produce in a variety of sizes and combinations until production ended in 1925. The engine on display was used to supply compressed air for a mining operation in Quartzsite Arizona. It was donated to the museum in 1983 and restored to operating condition by volunteers

This is a larger version of the Chicago Pneumatic located in Arizona at the Vulture gold mine. The engine has not been run sense the mine closing back in 1942.
